​His Excellency Dr Lowai Mohamed Belhoul, Director General of the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department, received a delegation from Shanghai courts, headed by His Excellency Senior Judge Chen Libin, President of Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court.

Dr. Belhoul highlighted the importance of this meeting that comes as part of improved cooperation, coordination and exchange of expertise and practices  across a spectrum of legal and judicial institutions carrying out legal work, both in the UAE and abroad.

During the meeting, Dr. Belhoul illustrated the tasks and competences of the Department and the services it provides to Government departments, entities and corporations. His excellency also highlighted the Department's role in organizing the legal profession in the Emirate of Dubai and the ambitious projects it has launched in order to improve the performance, efficiency and competitiveness of the legal sector in the Emirate.

The delegation was briefed on the Department's policy and work processes relating to complaints and lawsuits concerning  government entities in the Emirate, which have been  adopted in line with international best practices. Further, a brief was given on the procedures and efforts of the Department to resolve those disputes amicably without recourse to court.

Judge Chen Libin highlighted the importance of this visit which allowed the delegation to gain first-hand knowledge of the Department's legal practices and the latest developments in the legal field in the Emirate of Dubai. Furthermore, Chen Libin lauded the impressive development and smart transformation achieved by the Department in its processes and legal services.
