Director General of the Legal Affairs Department receives President of the Law Society of England and Wales

His Excellency Dr Lowai Mohamed Belhoul, Director General of the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department has welcomed, at his office, Mr Robert Bourns,President of the Law Society of England and Wales, in an effort to study ways to boost collaboration and exchange expertise in the legal field.

The meeting highlighted matters that may contribute to supporting and developing the advocacy and legal consultancy professions. The two sides discussed latest developments in legal work together with  programs and projects applied by the Department to leverage the standards of legal services set against developments witnessed by the Emirate in various fields.

The meeting also demonstrated the Department’s efforts  in regulating the advocacy and legal consultancy professions in the Emirate of Dubai as well as the approach adopted by the Department to enhance the competency of legal practitioners in line with best international practice, namely, the Continuing Legal Professional Development (CLPD) Program. The Department applies the CLPD program  to legal consultants registered in the Emirate to improve their competencies and keep them abreast of the latest developments in law, which contributes to raising the standard of legal services provided in the Emirate. The CLPD program also ensures the highest levels of confidence amongst clients, thus securing Dubai's position as an international hub for the provision of legal services and, creating an attractive business environment conducive to encouraging foreign investment.
