The Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department and Ministry of Justice Discuss Ways to Develop Regulating the Practice of the Legal Profession
As part of their efforts to enhance their cooperation in regulating advocates and legal consultants, the Legal Affairs Department hosted a consultative meeting with the Ministry of Justice, attended by representatives from both sides, in order to discuss ways to develop and strengthen their joint cooperation in regulating the practice of legal profession within the United Arab Emirates.
The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Dr. Lowai Mohammed Belhoul, Director General of the Department, in the presence of Salah Bin Kalban, Legal Counsel and Head of the Advocates and Legal Consultants Directorate at the Department, and Sara Hazeem Al Shamsi, Head of the Advocates and Translators Affairs Department at the Ministry of Justice, and several other representatives from both sides. The meeting showcased several programs and initiatives launched recently by the Department to address the development and regulation of advocates and legal consultants in the Emirate of Dubai in line with the international best practices.
The meeting also addressed a number of other topics, including the rules and requirements related to the enrolment of advocates, the licensing procedures for law firms and the required actions and procedures to be taken to limit legal malpractice in the United Arab Emirates.
In concluding the meeting, both sides called for the implementation of a number of joint initiatives and projects that will contribute to the regulation and development of the legal profession, whilst also positively reflecting on legal practitioners and the recipients of legal services across all segments of society.
