Legal Affairs Department Celebrates Year of Reading through "Together We Read" initiative

In line  with His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, declaration that 2016 is the Year of Reading and in implementing the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to encourage and promote reading, the Department, in collaboration with Emirates Writers Union, has organised a seminar titled "Together We Read".

His Excellency Dr. Lowai Belhoul, the Director General of the Government of Dubai, Legal Affairs Department reinforced that organising a seminar hosting the poet Hassan Al-Najjar, Wafaa Ahmed and Mariam Nasser reflects the Department's commitment to raising awareness among its employees that reading and writing are key elements of culture, knowledge and development. Dr. Lowai quoted His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum's principle: "Reading is the first skill needed by our children. The function of the Government is not only to provide services but also to develop  minds and skills. The future development phase requires a cultured, generation of readers with a passion of curiosity and depth of learning".

The seminar highlighted the importance of reading and writing in motivating creativity and building a better future. The writers shared their experiences and the challenges they have overcome in the process of their creative work.

In concludsion, Legal Counsel Salah Bin Kalban, Head of Government Disputes and Claims Directorate honoured the young writers for their valuable contribution to enriching the knowledge of the Department's employees.
