The Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department and University of Dubai Sign MoU to Boost Cooperation in AI Studies

The Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department and the University of Dubai signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a framework for boosting cooperation in research studies related to Artificial Intelligence. This agreement stems from the Department's ongoing efforts to expand strategic partnerships and facilitate the exchange of cognitive expertise.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by His Excellency Dr. Lowai Mohamed Belhoul, Director General of the Department, and by His Excellency Dr. Eesa Mohammed Al Bastaki, President of the University.

The Memorandum of Understanding included launching joint research initiatives in Artificial Intelligence, developing innovative policies that support capacity and skills building through training programs that contribute to enhancing digital transformation efforts for both parties. Additionally, the Memorandum of Understanding covers utilizing datasets and databases for academic research, in compliance with Dubai data legislation, to support the objectives of the cooperation, as well as working jointly to establish frameworks, principles, and policies for the ethical use of AI technologies.

For his part, His Excellency Dr. Belhoul affirmed the Department's keenness to solidify knowledge partnerships with scientific and academic institutions. He emphasized enhancing cooperation in research projects and training programs that contribute to raising the skills of its human cadres and boosting its institutional capabilities in utilizing Artificial Intelligence. This commitment is integral to the Department's continuous pursuit of its strategic goals in developing its operational strategies and systems by leveraging AI techniques and advanced technology to deliver leading and innovative government and professional legal services.

His Excellency Dr. Eesa Mohammed Al Bastaki, President of the University of Dubai, affirmed the University's commitment to solidifying its relationships with Government entities and legal institutions to enhance the integration between academic education and practical application. He highlighted the importance of employing Artificial Intelligence technologies to develop the system of education and scientific research in legal fields. Furthermore, he noted that this partnership will enable the University to launch innovative research and training projects aimed at preparing qualified legal professionals capable of managing digital transformations, thereby aligning with the UAE's directives and Dubai's vision for adopting technology and AI across vital sectors.

This collaboration is part of the joint efforts by both parties to support the Dubai AI Strategy and aims to enhance the Emirate's position as a leading global hub for utilizing modern technologies across education, scientific research, and sustainable legal development systems.
