The Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department has announced it achieved a 40% success rate in amicably settling Government complaints during the first half of the year. This accomplishment is thanks to its ongoing drive to enhance alternative dispute resolution methods and aligns with its mandate to receive and settle disputes filed against Government entities before they proceed to court.

Based on its latest report, the Department held 373 hearings in the first half of the year to pursue amicable settlements for customer complaints. The Department also handled 803 inquiries through various communication channels, delivering prompt responses that meet customer expectations and enhance their experience with Government services.

According to the report, several complaints were resolved through the Department's efficient procedures and effective pursuit of amicable settlements.

Upon receiving a complaint, the Department immediately coordinates with the relevant Government entity to explore a resolution without initiating formal dispute procedures. This approach not only saves time and effort but also enhances customer satisfaction and builds greater trust in the Government of Dubai.

 Values of Justice

His Excellency Dr. Lowai Mohamed Belhoul, Director General of the Department, affirmed that the Department receives complaints against Government entities as a crucial first step before litigation. Through clear, impartial, and transparent procedures, the Department pursues amicable settlements to achieve a mutual resolution to disputes, thereby avoiding court proceedings whenever possible.

His Excellency Dr. Belhoul added that this negotiation process, offers mutually acceptable solutions that safeguard rights and reinforce the values of justice and compliance with the rule of law. This is in line with Dubai's established strategy to enhance public trust in the Emirate's legal system.

Continuous Development

His Excellency Dr. Belhoul further stressed that the Department is committed to the continuous development of its procedures and capabilities for amicable settlements. This commitment is based on the legal mandates in accordance with the provisions of Government Claims Law No. (3) of 1996 and its amendments, and pursuant to Law No. (32) of 2008 Establishing the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department.

The goal of this development is to achieve the highest performance indicators, which helps reduce government disputes referred to judicial bodies and minimize legal costs for claimants. The Department efforts in this regard directly align with the Emirate's broader efforts to empower and promote alternative dispute resolution methods.
