Legal Affairs Department Director General receives President of the All China Lawyers Association to explore Venues for Collaboration in Legal Professions

His Excellency Dr. Lowai Mohamed Belhoul, Director General of the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department, received, in his office, Mr. GAO Zicheng, President of the All China Lawyers Association, and his accompanying delegation, which included Secretary General of the Association, President of the Jinangsu and Xinjiang Lawyers' Associations, Vice President of the Beijing Lawyers Association, Director of the International Department of the All China Lawyers Association, and others, with a view to exploring venues for cooperation in the legal professions sector.

His Excellency Dr. Belhoul welcomed the delegation and shed light on the Department's role in regulating the advocacy and legal consultancy professions by issuing relevant bylaws and regulations, which the Department is keen to update on an ongoing basis to keep pace with continuous development. His Excellency highlighted the importance of this vital sector in offering an attractive investment environment in the Emirate of Dubai known as a global investment hub and a central venue for various legal expertise in a manner that meets development needs.

His Excellency Dr. Belhoul explained that the Department considers the qualification and training of legal practitioners registered with the Department among its top strategic priorities to continuously raise the bar of the legal sector. In addition, the Department conducts comparative studies to benefit from the best international practices, and to create development opportunities, in line with the directions of the Government of Dubai and the Department's goals and vision in this regard.

In his turn, the head of the delegation introduced the Association, and highlighted its key practices in regulating the legal profession in the People's Republic of China as a professional institution entrusted with organising the work of Chinese lawyers subject to the supervision and instructions of the Ministry of Justice. The head of the delegation stressed the importance of exchanging experiences between the two friendly countries in providing professional legal services, in a manner that serves their aspirations to boost cooperation in various sectors, notably in coincidence with the celebration of the fortieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

 

The meeting was attended by Legal Counsel Salah Jassim Bin Kalban, Director of Government Disputes and Claims Directorate and Dr. Juma Obaid AlFalasi, Director of Advocates and Legal Consultants Affairs Directorate, Legal Counsel Nasir Khamlichi, Head of the Professional Development for Advocates and Legal Consultants Section, in addition to a number of legal counsel from the Department.
