During the first half of 2024 1974 in-person training hours conducted by the Legal Affairs Department for registered legal consultants

The Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department announced that it conducted, during the first half of this year, 1974 in-person training hours in various areas of law aimed at qualifying legal consultants registered with the Department. The Department also conducted 7448 online training hours as part of the training programme available on its smart portal.

The Department explained that it provides the Continuing Legal Professional Development programme (CLPD) to registered legal practitioners, both face to face and online, in accordance with its role and responsibility to qualify them by conducting training courses and programmes in all areas of law that keep pace with developments in legal work.

The Department indicated that, in accordance with the applicable bylaws to registering legal consultants in the Emirate of Dubai, a registered practising legal consultant who is authorized to provide legal services through a law firm or legal consultancy firm licensed by the Department, must satisfy the programme requirements, whether by completing mandatory CLPD activities through training materials determined and supervised by the Department, or by completing accredited CLPD activities that include topics that the legal consultant chooses to obtain from external training entities accredited by the Department. The number of external training entities accredited by the Department was 14 entities during the first half of 2024.

For his part, His Excellency, the Director General of the Department, Dr. Lowai Mohamed Belhoul explained that the Department is keen to continuously update its training programmes to keep pace with developments in the provision of legal services. His Excellency pointed out the significance of the qualification programmes provided by the Department to practicing legal consultants to enhance their knowledge. These training courses contribute to improving the quality of legal services provided to members of the public, and thus achieving the values of justice and establishing the rule of law, as well as being directly linked to enhancing the expertise that serves the global investment climate in the Emirate of Dubai.
