The Director General of the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department briefs a Kenyan Delegation on its Practices of Regulating the Legal Profession in the Emirate

​His Excellency Dr. Lowai Mohamed Belhoul, Director General of the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department, received, at his office, Ms. Fatuma Adan Dullo, Deputy Majority Leader in the Kenyan Parliament, and her accompanying delegation from the Standing Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights in the Republic of Kenya, and briefed the visiting delegation on the Legal Affairs Department best practices in regulating the professions of advocacy and legal consultancy in the Emirate of Dubai.

His Excellency Dr. Belhoul started the meeting by welcoming the visiting delegation and highlighted the Department's role in regulating the legal professional sector in the Emirate of Dubai. His Excellency also stressed the Department's continued keenness to improve the regulatory system governing the professions of advocacy and legal consultancy, in a manner that keeps pace with developments in legal work, and provides the necessary flexibility for making this vital sector a key player in the global investment environment that characterizes the Emirate of Dubai

His Excellency the Director General of the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department gave a throughout explanation about the practices of the Department in qualifying legal consultants registered with the Department in various areas of law to enhance their expertise and improve their legal knowledge through the Continuing Legal Professional Development Programme in the E​mirate of Dubai, aimed at sustaining qualification in line with the best international training practices.

The delegation was also informed about the Department's experience in consolidating the role of the legal professional sector in humanitarian and voluntary work, whereby advocates and legal consultants registered with the Department provides voluntary legal services to members of the public who wish to obtain legal consultation services free of charge through the Voluntary Legal Services Smart Portal launched by the Department.

For its part, the visiting delegation expressed their praise for the leading practices in the legal profession discussed during the meeting, stressing the importance of such meetings in exchanging experiences and knowledge between the two friendly countries.
