The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs cooperates with the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department to enhance strategic partnership relations effectively according to an institutional system

As part of its keenness to implement government directives to transform Dubai into the smartest and happiest city in the world, and to cement strategic partnership ties effectively in accordance with an institutional system, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai concluded a cooperation agreement with the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department to strengthen cooperation and joint action in a manner that fulfills the interests of both parties.

The agreement was signed by His Excellency Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai and His Excellency Dr. Lowai Mohamed Belhoul, Director General of the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department, in the presence of a number of directors of organizational units from both entities.

The agreement aims to provide appropriate solutions, infrastructure and state-of-the-art smart services, in order to improve and develop services provided, and achieve integration and quality of life for customers, which will ultimately reflect positively on the process of economic and social development in the UAE.

Exchange of experiences
His Excellency Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri affirmed that this agreement aims to strengthen cooperation and partnership ties between government entities in the Emirate of Dubai, with a view to achieving sustainable development, developing services provided to members of society, exchanging knowledge and expertise in legal affairs, and improving legal procedures related to residency and foreigners affairs, which echoes the mutual commitment to developing services, by steering joint efforts towards achieving the strategic vision of the Government of Dubai.

His Excellency Dr. Belhoul noted that the Department is building its institutional partnerships in light of the vision and strategy of the Government of Dubai that aim at achieving the highest level of government performance, through exchanging experiences and identifying the best practices that can be implemented in government work, in addition to the Department's keenness to engage with relevant authorities to boost continuous development of its operations and services.

Development partnerships
The two sides agreed to extend bridges of cooperation, communication and coordination, and exchange data in order to develop the services provided to customers. Both sides also agreed to coordinate in launching new mutual projects and initiatives relevant to their work, and to facilitate procedures for the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department in exercising its tasks.

The agreement also stipulated that the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department would use the Dubai Digital Authority's GSB Platform ("Platform") to exchange data and coordinate with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai to amend its electronic system with regard to the electronic linking with the Dubai Residency System.

The agreement covered several aspects such as training employees of the Department on using the platform, and inviting Dubai Residency employees to attend training courses and specialized workshops in law as organized by the Department, in addition to mutual coordination in organizing training courses with the aim of improving the capabilities of employees of both entities and raising efficiency and performance.
