The Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department briefs the Law Society of England and Wales on its Practices in Regulating the Advocacy and Legal Consultancy Professions in the Emirate of Dubai

His Excellency Dr Lowai Mohamed Belhoul, Director General of the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department received, at his office, Ms Stephanie Boyce, President of the Law Society of England and Wales, and Ms Donna Evans, International Policy Manager at the Law Society with a view to studying ways to boost mutual collaboration.

The meeting highlighted the efforts and practices of the Department which contribute to developing the processes of the advocacy and legal consultancy professions, considering that the Department is the entity responsible for regulating the profession in Dubai. The two sides further discussed the Department's experience in digital transformation in providing its legal services, and shed light on the Department's processes aimed to maintain business continuity during Covid-19 in line with the highest standards of information security that guarantee protection of customers' data.

Ms Stephanie Boyce was also briefed about the Department's efforts in qualifying and training registered legal consultants, using state-of-the-art software and interactive training programmes that keep pace with the latest developments in legal work in line with Dubai vision to boost the leading-edge competitiveness of Dubai at the global level in various sectors.

The visit concluded by the President of the Law Society of England and Wales expressing her praise for the Legal Affairs Department's efforts in regulating legal work, stressing the Society's keenness to strengthen cooperation with the Department and exchange expertise in various fields related to the legal professions.
