The Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department briefs a delegation from the UK Ministry of Justice on its best practices in regulating legal work in the Emirate

​His Excellency Dr. Lowai Mohamed Belhoul, Director General of the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department, received a high-level delegation from the UK Ministry of Justice, headed by Lord David Wolfson QC, UK Minister of Justice, currently visiting the UAE.

His Excellency welcomed the delegation, hailed the close relations between the two countries, and highlighted the significance of such a visit that lies within the framework of exchanging expertise and best practices in legal work.

The delegation was briefed on the services provided by the Department in line with its duties and functions, and its endeavours to support and develop the legal system in the Emirate.

The Department's experience in recovering from the Covid-19 crisis and its implementation of international standards to ensure business continuity, and provide its services in accordance with proactive plans and strategies that enabled it to deliver its services during the crisis with quality, efficiency and productivity that met the aspirations of its customers and fulfilled the requirements of leadership and sustainability in government work, was discussed.

The delegation also listened to a description of the Department's role in the amicable settlement of claims filed against government entities in the Emirate of Dubai, and how it seeks to settle them, without resorting to litigation, whilst guaranteeing impartiality and transparency.

The Department's experience in applying the paperless strategy and automation of all its services, in accordance with the highest standards of information security to ensure proper implementation of digital transformation in government work, was discussed.

The visit concluded with Lord Wolfson QC expressing his praise for the Legal Affairs Department's experience in regulating legal work, and the sophisticated technologies utilised by it to enhance public confidence in legal services in the Emirate.  Lord Wolfson expressed his belief that such a visit is beneficial to understand and appreciate the Department's experience in the legal sector.
