The Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department briefs a Police Judicial Council delegation on its Best Practices

His Excellency Dr. Lowai Mohamed Belhoul, Director General of the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department, received, at H.H. the Ruler's Court premises, a delegation from the Police Judicial Council chaired by Brigadier Ahmad Abdullah Shuhail, Director General of the Council, to brief the visiting delegation on the Legal Affairs Departments' best practices in handling complaints and claims received by the Department.

During the meeting, the delegation was given a thorough explanation of the Department's working processes regarding claims filed against the government and government entities. It was  explained that the Department abides by a specified time frame which starts from the date the complaint and its supporting documents is received through various channels such as the website, Smart Apps or in person. From that date, the respondent is then notified within one week and should give its reply within (15) days from the date of that notification. If, two months have elapsed from the date the claim was filed, and no amicable settlement has been reached, the claimant has the right to bring legal proceedings before the competent court.

Dr. Belhoul highlighted the significance of this visit, which aimed to exchange expertise and knowledge and strengthen cooperation with various government entities in the country, towards providing better legal services that meet the highest standards of efficiency in achieving expeditious justice.

In turn, Brigadier Ahmad Abdullah Shuhail expressed his praise for the practices developed by the Department, stressing that the Council is keen to benefit from their experience in the organisation of legal and judicial work in the Emirate.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties exchanged commemorative plaques and agreed to continue holding such meetings to improve cooperation in various common legal areas.
