Legal Affairs Department concludes its Participation in GITEX Technology Week 2018

The Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department concluded its participation in GITEX Technology Week 2018, which was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 14- 18 October. The Department showcased at its stand, which was part of the Dubai Smart Government Pavilion, its latest smart projects, initiatives and services launched in line with the insightful vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, the Ruler of Dubai to transform Dubai into the world's smartest city.

His Excellency Dr. Lowai Mohamed Belhoul, Director General of the Department stated that the Department gives the utmost importance to continuous development and modernisation and values keeping abreast of the latest digital technologies, tools and systems: an ethos which has lead the Department to achieve remarkable results in the digital transformation process.  Consequently, this is reflected in statistical indicators showing that the percentage use of digital services by the Department's customers reached 89% of the total services provided to government entities, legal practitioners and the public, which is in harmony with strategic directives to align with the aspirations of the visionary leadership to reduce the number of customers visiting government premises by 80% during 2018.

His Excellency added that the Department has been able to provide all its services through a single smart application which crucially saves time and effort in processing requests. This smart application includes the "Government Entities' Portal", which enables Government entities in Dubai to apply for a wide range of legal support services, the "Smart Platform for Pro Bono Legal Services", which aims to foster the Department's role in charity and giving through a creative channel providing members of the public with access to a large database of pro-bono legal services provided by law firms across a wide range of  disciplines, and the "Legal Profession Licensing System", which allows legal practitioners to submit their requests through their smart devices.
