The Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department participated in the 6th Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition (DIGAE), held under the theme “Government Practices … Global Achievements”, and organised by the Dubai Government Excellence Programme (DGEP) which is part of the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Dubai under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.
The Department’s participation in this exhibition comes as part of its desire to share experience and best practices in government work, and is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai which aims to improve government work and enhance the competitiveness of the UAE by ensuring that the UAE government always ranks among the most innovative governments in the world.
His Excellency Dr. Lowai Belhoul, Director General of the Department, hailed the Department’s participation in this global exhibition which provided a unique platform to showcase best government practices, discover creative ideas and exchange experiences in various areas of government work.
The Department’s focus in this year's edition was on unveiling the its main innovative and creative initiatives such as the Pro Bono Legal Services Platform which is a community initiative launched by the Department in order to promote its role in sustainable voluntary work .
The pro bono platform enables law firms, legal consultants and advocates participating in the initiative to enter their details, specify their area of specialty together with convenient times to provide free legal advice and services to the public. These details are accessible to members of the public wishing to receive the service and enables them to select the most suitable date and time from the availability displayed on the Smart Platform.
The Department also presented a smart facility, to encourage charitable donations by its employees, which allows them to
donate through (GRP), in coordination with Smart Dubai Government, therefore ensuring the Department’s commitment to support social responsibility by its employees.
The Department gave visitors an insight in to its most important achievements, initiatives and smart services launched with a view to streamlining the legal services provision procedures, thus meeting the needs and expectations of clients and achieving excellence in government legal work. These achievements and initiatives run in parallel with the vision and aspirations of the UAE’s astute leadership i.e. to collaborate and effectively contribute to promoting Dubai’s global competitiveness.
In the field of innovation, the Department obtained the "European Specification Certificate on Innovation Management System, becoming the first government legal entity in the world to obtain this prestigious certificate. The basis for this was shown in the presentation of the Department’s "Holistic Innovation System" - an effective channel to receive ideas and suggestions and accelerate their implementation through the “ignited thinking” approach, boosting innovation in legal work, providing innovative legal services and fostering a creative workplace.
The Department’s participation was also an opportunity to brief visitors on the CLPD programme, which provides continuous learning and raises the standard of legal services provided, to keep pace with all levels of development in the Emirate. The CLPD programme also seeks to achieve the highest levels of trust among recipients of legal services, which reinforces Dubai's image as a global hub for such services
