Director General of the Legal Affairs Department: UAE “a model for women's empowerment in the region”

His Excellency Dr. Lowai Belhoul, Director General of the Department asserted that the astute leadership led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has empowered women and enabled them to achieve success in all aspects.

Dr. Belhoul said that women have been supported by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood "The Mother of the Nation", which enabled women to contribute more actively to sustainable development.

Dr. Belhoul pointed out that the UAE is a model for women's empowerment in the region thanks to the adoption of legislation and laws that support women, provide them with equal rights and duties with men, and enhance their access to decision-making positions. Dr. Belhoul also asserted that female employees working in the Department are supported and assisted within an attractive workplace that recognises their skills and creative capabilities.

Dr. Belhoul said: "the International Women's Day serves as an opportunity to hail women's status and their valuable contribution, as an equal partner of men, to the building and development of UAE society. Dr Belhoul added that the Department boasts a workforce consisting of 60% women and recognises their important role in its various areas of practice, principally the legal field.
