Legal Affairs Department celebrates International Women's Day

The Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department celebrated International Women's Day, held annually on 8 March.

On this occasion, the Department honoured its female employees, in line with directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

His Excellency Dr Lowai Belhoul, Director General of the Department, emphasised that the visionary leadership of the UAE believes in Emirati women, assigning them to leadership positions to demonstrate their ability to assume responsibilities and achieve outstanding success in all fields of employment together with their male counterparts.

Dr Belhoul pointed out that International Women's Day is an occasion to recognise women's efforts and contributions as key members serving society for its continued betterment.

The United Arab Emirates, His Excellency explained, attaches great importance to empowering women and gives them equality with men.  With such equality comes greater responsibility to continually strive to accomplish more in all fields of work including the legal field, and to significantly contribute to the development of the UAE.

Dr Belhoul also expressed his pride in the Department’s female workforce and pointed out that the Department, since its inception, has always been a strong supporter of female equality as illustrated by the fact that over 55% of the Department staff are females. Female employees have consistently proved their ability in many fields and demonstrated that they are competent to assume responsibility and committed to performing their duties to the fullest extent possible.
